Speedy Quick Recap

Holy smokes. The end of semester rush is in full swing, an of course in my last week of student teaching I was suffering from the worst allergies ever.

They turned into this lovely 100 degree fever.

I also went through a whole box of tissues.

This sickness was miserable. I was pathetic. I couldn't even knit, sew, or do homework. Ridiculous.
Then I went back for my official last day of student teaching.

The kids were so sweet!

Then I went back for a few make up days because I had been sick.
The kids were so confused.
In the meantime. Matt has fully caught the knitting bug and is successfully making hexies like a machine.

Tanya, Kim and I jointly taught the "O" girls how to knit. They're knitting like machines too! They can knit, they can purl, and are working away on their projects.

Matt then upped the anti when Tan taught him how to make mini Mrs. Weasley sweaters.

I'm also wrapping up projects I need to finish before I leave. Remember how my friend Alisa learned to make this quilt top for her baby niece?

Here it is getting machine quilted by me.

She gets to learn how to bind!
It will be ready just in time for her nieces birthday.
I'm still feeling residual drag from the sickness. I'm running pretty slow. Its really put a damper on trying to see everyone and do everything before I head back to my Luke. I sure miss that guy. I'll be glad to see him.

THAT person on the plane

Ever wait in line to get on a plane and there's that one person sneezing, sniffling, and blowing his/her nose. And you say a little prayer, please let me not be sitting anywhere near them or their airborne germs. Well folks, how embarrassing. I'm that person today. The lovely Fresno allergens hit me hard the minute I stepped out the door. Ive been sniffling and sneezing ever since.
Thanks for letting me confess my guilt.

Back Among The Living...almost.

I know that title sounds dire. It sort of felt dire. I wasn't quite at 100%  health before I came to Colorado Springs. I'd been having some ear nose and throat issues that I had thought I had kicked...I flew to Colorado...Luke picked me up at the Denver airport with a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory caramel chocolate apple in hand (the man knows how to woo.)
He brought me back to our apartment, which was cleaned VERY well, including an immaculate kitchen, fresh sheets and smelly candles.  He had put cheery Christmas lights in the window. (Warm ones folks, he put aside his love for the latest and greatest in Christmas lights cold looking LED, for my appreciation of warm hues.) We were in wedded bliss....
then, an airport full of germs and a huge change in climate and altitude later and the next morning  I was one sick puppy.
I pretty much didn't leave the apartment...or bed...until we left to be with Luke's family for Christmas.

Wait. I take it back. I made it to Target where I finally picked up one of these.
Solution goes in one nostril, fills the sinuses and flows out the other nostril taking with it all the disgusting mucus.
Gross I know.

I'd been hearing all the magical things it's been doing for other people though....could I get over my dislike for water up my nose (I plugged my nose with my fingers while on the swim team people) enough to get the mucous out of it?
When I made the comment that I'd like to use a pipe cleaner to get all the junk out I finally decided the water/solution would be a safer option.

I'm sooooo glad I decided to go this route. It was no miracle cure don't get me wrong but it(combined with meds, water and 12+ hours of sleep) gave my body a chance to start to get over the hump. Good thing Neola took pictures of our time in Grand Junction or the Christmas update to come soon would be sparse. But don't worry, updates are coming. Though they might be later than earlier as I'm still requiring 8 hours of sleep. I've decided just breathing in Colorado Springs is a full time job.

Hospital Humor

Funny thing today: My mom's name is Susan and her Registered Nurse's name was Susan. My name is Jessica. Mom's Nurses Assistant's name was Jessica.

Good Things Today: Because Mom is in the Hospital she has nurses (and NA's) who know how to help her move and go to the bathroom. I have no clue when it comes to moving/helping people move. Its also good because she's able to get fluids, blood transfusions, and meds through her IV.

Not So Funny Thing Today: It took for-ev-er to get her CT scan done today. She want allowed to eat or drink. Her 12/1 pm CT scan ended up being about 5:45 ish. Long time when you want a drink!

Kind of Scary Thing Today: She's still kind of high on the temperature end of things, and she has even less strength. The lack of strength has moved to her arms and is now using only her right arm to do any maneuvering.

Great Things Today: Our cheerful visitors! Even if you come with a friend and chat she likes to be in the middle of things. She may not be all chatty but it makes her happy to hear things going on! She's in 502-1. When people werent in her room I was reading a funny book which she seemed able to listen to and enjoy!

Disneyland...or at least an attempt?

Luke and I went to Disneyland just after I picked him up from the airport. I was super gung ho about going, but as soon as we got in line for the rafting ride in CA Adventure I felt really funny so we mellowed it down and took a couple train rides around the park. We met Luke's family just after the second time around at the entrance. That night we met Matt and Valerie at ESPN Zone (a restaurant whose grandeur, and value are lost on me.)
We went to DL on Monday, I was still pretty sluggish but determined to have fun and not miss out on anything!

How cool is this interpretation of popcorn? My favorite special food items were this: And this Big o pickle, which actually perked me up big time. I'm pretty sure this pickle had healing qualities.

(This is the space that should have been filled with more Disneyland fun but was instead filled with a trip to Urgent Care, and then the ER where Neola and John came to retrieve and deliver us back to Aunt Audries. At the ER they gave me meds and an IV and by the next day we were feeling significantly better. Neola, John, Jay, and Mark came to visit us at Aunt Audries and have smoothies before/after going to the beach.)

I'm back

I was away for a while and boy was it an adventure! I went down to the "LA area" excited to see Luke and his family, spend some more time with my family, go to Disneyland, then come back to Fresno for the day and do wedding stuff all day, and you get the drift I had a lot planned. Well then I went and got Swine flu. We dont know how I got it, but man is it a kill joy. Disneyland got cut, I was pretty boring laying in bed and sleeping, one full day was spent in Medical offices, wedding appointments were cancled and I had to stay away from mom so she didn't get sick. (Bittersweet since it meant I DID get to see family in Idaho and stay with Luke for a good chunk of time.) School is starting today. I wish I was more excited.
Updates will be coming shortly. Ill do them all in seperate blogs but after reading this, I guess you'll have an overarching idea of what happened and it might make sense.

Comfort Food

After a week away with a different schedule, and a week on another different schedule hanging out with my parents and going to school, all the germs that I had managed to avoid this winter/early spring caught up with me and I was sick. After visiting the doctor I was on my way to the store and decided I needed a comfort food from home. I needed Cindy's Famous Fizzy Jello. I was a little anxious to consume my Jell-o so I added ice to my cold club soda which de-intensified the fizzy-ness but still it was amazing, and just what I needed to help me get better! Thanks Cindy!
