Oregon Ducks Linen Stitch Scarf

Here it is. All 400 stitches in length of it.
My first knit item for my husband Luke the Human Heater.
In his very favorite Oregon Ducks colors.
It is also in, my now, very least favorite stitch to knit, linen stitch....
Though the stitch is so unique, and the fabric it makes is so light!
It really is the perfect stitch for a man scarf.
I took it to the football field to take pictures of it, then to the park where I realized just how bizarre people thought I was taking pictures of this scarf like it was my child. Let me tell you, a gazillion rows of 400 stitches of linen stitch. It may as well have been.
Here is the front where you can really see how it gives the woven linen look.
Here is the back. It still has the woven look but also as someone said "looks more like a plaid."
After two re-starts of this scarf ("oh I've done this scarf before, I don't need to pay too much attention to the pattern") I finally got it going correctly. I'm glad I did.
Even if it meant frogging two inches.
And another two inches.
And casting on 400 stitches...3 times.
Alas, it was on this scarf that I discovered the beauty of Addi knitting needles. It was this scarf that has been with me to Grand Junction as I helped John and Neola pack, Olton,Texas as I visit with my family, Denver for another family adventure, Dallas, Texas  to a Rangers Baseball game and more!
Now it will be ready to go on adventures with Luke (when it gets cold enough) and bring some green and yellow to this region of blue, red, and purple.

Please pass the sanitizer and kiss me.

So when I was in the mountains I got a bit of sun and thought I had an itchy back because of that. Then, Monday, I was in the grocery store and my back itched sooo bad! I was twisting in all sorts of ways to scratch my back! When Tanya got home she confirmed for me that I had mosquito bites. Ugh. They always seem to itch the most at the worst times. Ex: Right now during class.

Shout out to Art, who I just found out reads my blog!

My car has just started smelling like baby powder. I don't know where it's coming from, but I'm not fond of it.

There's an individual in the computer lab blowing his nose like a car horn, (into a handkerchief. germs!) sniffing, clearing his throat at the volume i talk to a whole class and swishing water in his mouth to rinse out pieces of the offensive smelling lunch he just ate in the computer lab. Shudder. I would like social boundaries back right now please. And some hand sanitizer.

I saw a couple walking down the side walk while I was driving home from school. They were laughing, holding hands and clearly just enjoying the moment. It was refreshing because seeing this I didn't get angry or jealous or sad because Luke and I are apart, instead I had flashbacks to our moments like that.

I married him for the twinkle/trouble in his eyes ya know. Ahhh such flash back pictures. We're baaaabies.

What's even better, is that Kiss Me, by Six Pence None the Richer, came on. I really like that song. Really. It's such a chick flick song for a total chick flick moment.

Love Hate Thursday

One of my favorite blogs to read posted Love Hate Thursday. She asked us what some of ours were.  I thought, "Sure, I can come up with a couple." and then I had so many I thought "I'm practically writing a blog post as a comment." Then I thought of the friend who tells me I'm slacking when I haven't written a post. So I'm on it. Here's my Love Hate Thursday. Share yours in the comments!

Love:Subbing in an AMAZING 5th grade class today.

Hate:Leaving my husband yesterday.

Love: When I asked a 5th grader what he was doing at the fish tank today, he said "I'm trying to make the fish talk to me." Oooooook class. On to problem 5.
Hate: That it's warmer in Colorado Springs. Pretty much the only reason to live in California is that it's warm.

Love: Driving my zippy little car again.
Hate: When I drive Luke's low riding car (that he likes to lean back and stretch out while he drives in) I have to scoot forward so far just to reach the pedals that my forehead hits the windshield.

Love: That my apartment in Fresno is only on the 2nd floor.
Hate: That I'm not in the third floor apartment in CO Springs with Luke.

Love: Doing 5th grad math.
Hate: That I can't figure out the thing that will make it click for some of my students. I know it's there.

Love: Working on stuff in Elements. I've got so many projects going on there its crazy. I think my computer needs more memory.
Hate:That my computer needs more memory.

Love: That my sister brought me an amazing argyle quilt pattern from her boyfriends mom.
Hate: That its full of 60 degree angles and I've sworn them off with a vengeance.

Don't forget to share yours!

My Sister, My Friend

Happy Birthday to my little sister! Thanks for all your big sister advice, waking up to talk to me on the phone and for always challenging me to make my bows better! Who would have thought with all our fighting years ago, we'd get along so well now! I miss you, am sending love and can't wait to celebrate with you when I'm there!

It Must Be Love When...

you come home after 4 days and the kitchen is clean, the sheets have been changed, and the laundry "did." What a guy I married.
