Dallas- Sports Edition

On Sunday we hit up a couple sports stadiums, starting with the Dallas Cowboy's stadium. While none of us are fans, the stadium was quite the sight to behold!

 I took the combative press approach.

 Then we went across the way to a Texas Rangers vs Huston Astros baseball game. It was hot but there was a perk to getting the $7 tickets...we were second from the back with a breeze! (Sort of. It was still hot.)

 Keeping up with tradition, I took my knitting and made great progress on Luke's Oregon Ducks scarf!

They gave away bears to kids 13 and under. Val, a lover of soft stuffed animals, was green with envy! Especially of this little guy in front of us who was playing with not only his, but all of his siblings' bears! 

 She just about melted when they did a bear dance and all the kids were waving around their bears and dancing with them! Matt came to her rescue and procured a bear for her. (Shhhh. It's a secret!)

 This is my last post from our quick Dallas trip. It allowed for lots of talking time in the car, some delicious eating as Val and Matt are in the middle of everything in Uptown, a couple driving tours through neighborhoods and visiting schools (yeah I like to see schools from other areas) and lots of golf for Luke and Matt. Especially nice for Luke, was that it gave him some time to debrief and do some interacting with other similarly minded young professionals.

Ballpark Magic

Wow oh wow what a night! I was at our apartment laundry room when Luke calls and tells me that he's been given GREAT tickets to a Rockies game and can I be ready ASAP? Uh, ok. So I get our freshly laundered and folded laundry back to our apartment,?and we head up to Denver. Those great tickets were TOTALLY AWESOME!

It was quite the time and a pretty entertaining game! My Rockies game tradition treat is kettle corn. Yum.



I even got some knitting in! The tickets we acquired were from a season ticket holder. I was a little worried about dishonoring the seats. I got over it and actually saw some major plays because I was knitting and not on my phone or reading or any other thing I've been known to do.
It was a great win in extra innings and they launched shirts at us. Luke caught us two!



This was to keep us occupied while they transitioned half the crowd to better fireworks seats.



Wow! What fireworks they were! They were so big and so many for so long! They felt close enough to touch. The finally was so big I could feel my ribs vibrating! I tried to get the big Rockies sign in the pictures for size perspective.



This whole adventure was totally spur of the moment and just kept unfolding its fabulousness! I'm pooped but wow what a night! Definatly harder to sleep now!

Spoons, Skysox, Meatballs

I worked on this mildly frustrating project.



Dawn (one of the intern's at Luke's work girlfriend and a total kindred spirit) and I went down the hill from our apartment to "Old Town" where they were having a giant "thing" called territory days. I had cream soda,



Saw the worlds coolest spoon art,







And some funny signs!



It wasn't until after Dawn went home that I realized we forgot to take a picture!
Sunday Luke and I went to a Colorado Springs Skysox vs. Fresno Grizzlies game. I very much hope tomorrows score is better.



We stopped at Best Buy and Costco to look at TVs. It's Luke's newest hobby. Then we went home where I tried out Pioneer Woman's mini meatball sandwiches, and made a lemon cake to eat tomorrow.

Which home team?

Way back in August (okay last month) we went to see the Fresno Grizzlies play the Colorado Springs Skysox. It was a sunny day! Luke and took advantage of free parking down the road. Check out these cheery flowers! This is as close to your flower photos as I get Grandma G!

We watched the game in good fun! I ate two hot dogs and a caramel chocolate covered apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

Then around the 6th or 7th inning it started to rain. Sigh.

Sometimes you can wait it out and the weather will change, but when it started to rain harder the fans started to really jump ship!

We found a spot under cover to watch the rest of the game, and hoped they might still do fireworks. No such luck. It kept raining.

So we walked to our further away parking. In the rain. Luke says it wasn't cold. It was. Very cold.

Just in case you're wondering the Skysox won this game. I guess its okay since they're both my teams. Well more the Grizzlies to be fair.

Ps. Luke's work has offered him a spot for next summer that may or may not include a promotion. This is a HUGE compliment! Especially because they're hosting the women's open! So far the plan is to head back to Fresno where I will finish up my credential (3 semesters Spring 2011, Fall 2011, Spring 2012). (I still have a scholarship there, and I would have to go waaaaay backward if I change to Colorado's program. Plus California doesn't accept Colorado's credential straight off it I want to switch.) Luke will come back to "the Springs" in April, I will join him after my friends wedding in May, and head back to Fresno in August before school. He will join me at the end of the season back in Fresno. Whew. Complicated. Though its a pretty okay situation. I know a lot of other married golf pros have much messier situations.

Vandal Baseball

Hahaha just kidding. The U of I doesnt have a baseball team. We DID however head up to Denver on Saturday to meet Luke's parents for a University of Idaho Alumni (Colorado Chapter) event at a Colorado Rockies baseball game!

Luke took a morning shift at his place of work (we're not even allowed to type the name on the internet) which meant he had to get up at 5AM!!! Fairly typical except this time I had trouble falling back asleep (normally not an issue.) So here you go Grandma G, pictures of our sunrise.

After Luke got off work we headed to Denver!

Ive never seen so many people wearing purple before in my life! It was fantastic!

I even painted my nails "A Grape Fit" for the game. Thats what I did with my time being up so early and all.

Luke wore his Germany shirt in honor of them getting 3rd place in the World  Cup!

Every stadium has it's "food to get." When we went to Grizzlies Games as kids it was always a funnel cake, at the Skysox stadium it's Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory's Caramel Milk Chocolate covered apple, and here it was kettle corn. We went on a mission and found it. Good for munching the whole game long.

2nd of July Fireworks!

Yesterday (Friday) Luke and I went to the Skysox game with two of my co workers and their husbands.

It was as Aly says "Fuller than I've ever seen it before." This MIGHT have been due to the fireworks they have every Friday night game and the people of this patriotic city trying to get in avery fireworks moment possible!

Can I just say that it became quite aparent as we were walking to the game from work, that none of us married short. We were dwarfed. The picture below is my knees in between Andrew's (left) and Luke's (right.) No wonder they're more concerned with seating on an airplane than I am!

Aly got these stylin glasses for watchiing fireworks in 3-D. We all gave her a lot of grief but then she let us try em out for a bit and let me just say....they're pretty cool.

Happy Fourth of July!

Lots to Do!

The time has been JAM packed! As I write I am a bit sunburned and tired because today we (group from work) went to the Sky Sox Kids Day and watched the first game of a double header.

You wont see too many pictures of me on my adventures because posting pictures of me and kids at work probably doesn't equal that great of an idea.

Tuesday was a full day of work after arriving back in Colorado Springs at 2:00 AM!

Monday was 18 hours in the car leaving Fresno around 5:00 AM

Sunday was an amazing wedding reception in Fresno! I got to visit with so many people! Much better than not getting to speak with anyone on the day of our wedding! PLUS I got to go out to dinner with many of the women in my family that night while the boys all watched recorded Germany game.

Saturday we got to Fresno at  12 30 ish and stopped by the Farmers Market (closed) watched soccer (football) and went to Mark and Cindys for yummy burgers! Top the night off with a trip to Sur la Table!

Friday worked a full day then left Colorado Springs right after work leaving behind some crazy rain and a tornado warning. The rain stuck with us but we lost it by Fresno! 

Thursday we went to the Denver Aquarium. Pretty cool! Especially after being biased by Monteray Bay Aquarium! Though it DID make me miss those CA beaches!

For dinner we had the best breakfast burritos!

Eggs with asparagus, chopped potato and onions, sausage, and feta cheese.

Wednesday we went to  Magic Town a gallery in Old Town Colorado Springs of Michael Garman's works. You can even look in the windows of all the mini buildings and spy on the people!

Dinner on this night was the best burger recipe I didn't really follow. I was in Whole Foods with Neola and Aunt Becky and we got this amazing looking recipe for Turkey Spinach Burgers. The recipe inspired my recipe which looked more or less like this:

1 pound ground beef

6 asparagus spears chopped

3 large handfuls of torn baby spinach

2 pieces of toast torn up into bread crumbs

1/3 cup minced onion

2 Tablesppons Worcestershire Sauce

Some good shakes of garlic salt

I mixed the ingredients by hand and packed them into 5 balls.

I didnt squash ours down bacause I cooked them on our new red George Foreman grill.

I topped mine with Feta and garnished it with mustard! Yum! I didnt feel the need to use a bun since there was bread in the burger!

They were DELISH! (If I do say so myself!)

Tuesday: Work Training, Full shift, Staff Meeting

Monday: First full day of work, field trip to John May Museum. One word bugs. Lots of them. Pinned under glass. Highlight for the kids: Starwars display in th space section. They wanted to know how those puzzles stay together to hang on the wall and in the cereal is still in those old boxes.

Sunday we organized our apartment some more, and got better settled in. Slept a lot. The altitude takes quite a bit out of me!

Saturday Luke worked, Jess slept like 12 hours. Then went to the pool and was mortified by the company she found there and now knows live in our apartment complex. She came back and puttered around organizing "stuff." 

Friday I went out for some interviews and dropped off resumes and cover letters. I also got hired for my job at the school! We had a neighbor up to join us for pancakes. Funny guy goes on 70 mile bike trips on his weekends....for fun?!

Thursday: was long and tireing. I was running around turning in job applications and was STILL not aclimated. I went to La Baguette and got some of their amazing French Onion Soup. I brough home an Ecclair to share with Luke....I saved him half right?

Maybe not. It was good!
