WiP Wednesday- Pom-Pom's, The Scoop, Upside Down

I'm working on a hat that channels a certain Sesame Street character and therefore requires two pink and purple pom-poms. 

 I had an excuse to use my handy dandy pom pom maker which is always a treat!

 I'm just about done with the hat!

I made some chocolate chip cookies this afternoon. 

I love this Oxo Good Grips Cookie dough scoop. I can set it down on the counter and it has a nice rest so that the dough covered scoop doesn't touch the counter.

 While we were gone this week my seeds were feeling neglected and confused. Because the weather was YUCKY (snowy and grey) I planned to leave them on top of the fridge where they were likely to stay the warmest. Unfortunately they didn't get any light either and the plants started growing upside down. With a little sun today they seem to be recovering fairly quickly.

The seedlings who were further along seem to be having a bit tougher of a time bouncing back. Cross your fingers for them.
The last WiP is that I had a meeting Tuesday morning that went pretty well if I do say so myself. We'll see what becomes of it!

What a Weekend: Paint, Quilting, Growth and Chocolate

I've begun renovations on this dresser. My parents had it in the early part of their marriage. It was painted yellow for the baby bedrooms of me and my sister. It was painted blue to go with Valerie's Winnie the Pooh bedroom and when we got married it came to live with me and Luke in Colorado Springs. It has since moved to Garden City, Kansas with us and is NOW in the middle of a makeover. 

 I've removed the drawer knobs for some light sanding, and cant wait to show you the paint!! I'm hoping we can make a trip to Colorado Springs soon where I can pick up some glass knobs for drawer pulls.

I also did some machine quilting this weekend. 

 I received two quilt tops to be donated to Mennonite Central Committee's Relief quilt auction. The original plan was to hand quilt them but as I was assembling the quilt it became aparent that all of the seams would not be conducive to teaching new quilters. SO now I get to practice my machine quilting skills.. And dream of the day I get a long arm. One of these is a crib size and the other is a small twin.

If Only Life WERE Like a Box of Chocolates

Val and I came upon a box of See's Chocolates for Christmas. While some people embrace taking life/chocolate as it comes. I personally prefer to use the tools available to know what's coming...and avoid nasty surprises.

I still "play the game" more or less, choosing the ones I would choose first if I didn't know I could cut them open. I confess, it's rather satisfying knowing that I wasn't the sucker eating the one I didn't want.

Even more, one man's refuse is your sister's treasure.

Now if only we could find a way to get a sneak peak at life's surprises.

Chocolate

Luke and I got a bag of those yummy Dove chocolates to enjoy. Fun part is, they have little sayings inside the foil wrapper. One I particularly thought was particularly appropriate said:

Engaged,
embrace,
enjoy.

(Okay really it said engage, not engaged...but once in similar regards to my conversation with Grandma G, minor technicality right?)

How cool are these?!

I'm helping to plan summer curriculum for work, so I've been browsing the internet all day looking for fun, interesting, unique and not TOO involved international foods. I was getting nervous about finding something Australian when I came across the concept of Fairy Bread. I was searching google images and was taken right to Cupcakes and All Things Sweet (click here for link) The first thigs I saw were these Nishnobblers which are made with bubblewrap! Cool! And then I found her butterfly fairy bread which was cool too! Check it out!
