Pondering Production - Going Mental

" There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.'" -Dave Barry

I think what he meant to say was "There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and your family developing a mental illness."

My dad has learned a lot of patience with me and my hobbies over the years. Way back when, the sight of melting wax for some project in the house made him panic , now he calmly says, "clean it up and get it out."

He's learned that jars go in the dishwasher and then to my room for use in later projects instead of right into the recycle.

Knowing all the adaptations he's made to living with me I try and finish projects quickly. "It's almost done Dad" I tell him. It'll all be gone as soon as I'm done with this project.

The other day he pointed something new out to me. It's never done. Sure I finish one project, and I clean it all up and the big dining room table is cleared off for a day or two. BUT Sure enough, two days later a new and different project is out and on the table. There's always a project. It's never done.

Hes right. I cant deny it. I'm not even sure if I can change it. I guess I can be really glad and thankful that he tolerates it, and HE can be really glad and thankful that I'm getting married in 33 days and the problem will now be Luke's.

Luke and your dad can bond with Jason over this. . . Last summer I decided to make a master list of my projects so I could cross them off when I was done and feel accomplished. There is good news and bad- I've been checking things off, but there are now more things on the list!!! The projects never end!!! hehe And the list of things I want to try keep growing! Hurray for summer coming so I can get more projects done!

I love to spread my projects out! Sometimes they are on different tables in different rooms. I can flit from one to the other.I am sure your dad will miss your mess! Love and prayers-Janice

Only 33 days?! That's barely over a month! WOOHOO! Are you ready???

AND... is Luke ready... for this little "problem" of yours?

Of course... he loves you for it... or in spite of it. And he can't wait for the "problem" to be HIS. :)

You are so creative and talented that I'm sure it's all worth it. You've been blessed with such understanding and encouraging parents!

And I agree... your dad will miss your mess.

Ah, yes. We're all just counting the days. I won't miss the mess, but I will miss you.

I love you and your messes.... that said we are going to have to work something as a compromise. The good news is that I can be very persuasive when the need arises for instance; you didn't clean up your mess when you were done tonight, I get to have a poker game with they guys, or other such deals maybe even including this illusive toilet seat. Have fun with all your projects honey!!!
