Halloween

followed several bouts of a variety of illnesses. (Yay for working with children and traveling a lot!) I still found ways to enjoy it though. Its funny, I don't like the scary parts of Halloween one bit, but I enjoy the aspect of Fall, dressing up, making things, food and CANDY!

 These jolly guys were a quick project/addition to the library at school. Thank you pinterest! I had special helpers that would help me turn on the battery operated candles inside.

 We actually got to dress up at school and I was Luna Lovegood! The kids either got it or they didn't. It was okay. The kids who "got it" toooootally made it worth it. I confess, though, I was AMAZED at how many teachers hadn't read the Harry Potter books! Seriously people!?!?!

No Trick

Just a TREAT because I squeezed in all my schoolwork and left EARLY Friday morning to be with Luke for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday! I am one happy girl. It snowed just before I got here which means it has been COLD but that makes good snuggling weather.


I have found that I hardly even mind the sound of football this trip. In fact this trip I'm even finding myself liking it, because that means Luke's around and he's happy to be just sitting. (He doesn't even mind me invading his snuggle space since the game is on and I'm not complaining!)


On my agenda was pumpkin carving as we have never ever carved pumpkins together. Well check that off our list because we got not 1, not 2, but 4 pumpkins to carve!

Don't worry all you mom's out there. Luke even wanted to switch knives before I took the picture.

We picked up this handy dandy wrappy bendy tri-pod from REI that will hold our camera and our phones!  The cost  was $10 including taxes! Now we can take pictures of ourselves!!

Why is it that pumpkin seeds always sound like a better idea than they are? The first couple handfuls=yum. Especially if you use garlic salt like I did. Then you're just chewing and chewing on plant.



Sunday brought more football. Luke was happy for the 49ers win. I made some homemade chili, cornbread, and cooked up some sliced apples in a pan with cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter. YUMMY! All that seems to have made up (more or less) for the fact that Luke and I will be watching all 4 Halloween Town made for Disney TV movies this weekend.

Where's Wanda

Our (Val's first then mine) friend Laura invited me to go look for a hat a socks for her Halloween costume. She had made plans to be Wanda, Waldo's Girlfriend. In my experience scoping out knit items in chain stores I knew that there wouldn't be too many striped items, let alone red and white stripes. She said she'd just wear a red or white beanie, and being the authenticator in this whole deal I just couldn't have that.

I also couldn't resist the challenge.

2 skeins of bulky yarn later (one red and one white) and I had this bad boy ready to go to San Francisco with her this morning.

Where's Wanda?

On another note, at lunch today with my friend who shall remain unnamed to avoid bashing, I started showing her pictures of my latest Etsy projects. She was going through the pictures and in a disbelieving voice says: "These are good Jess." Tsch. Ye of little faith.

Whee Halloween!

Halloween weekend was fun! Here I am with some of my girlfriends at a party some of our friends were hosting! L-R is Amanda, Me, Destinie, Beth, Katie, and Kassy! Yay!

I was a more contemporary Marian the Librarian.

So I called it a night relatively early, and went home to sleep before my CSET test the next morning at 7:30. I set my alarm, got my stuff all ready, and then woke up the next morning at 7:32! Two minutes after the test started! Augh... I missed it. When I woke up in shock my mom told me she heard me talking in the next room and heard stuff going on. I didnt talk to anyone, so it all must have been sleep talking/incorporated into my dream. The worst part is something similar happened two years ago when I was supposed to take the CBEST test. I'm scheduled to take the CBEST in December. You'll all have to call and make sure I'm actually awake! Ugh. I can't believe it.

On Sunday when the college group was meeting at Starbucks for Sunday School a man walked in. I wasn't the only one to do a double take thinking that he was my dad!

Here is my dad maybe 5 years ago with slightly darker hair.(He often wears his boots, and also has a hat, I couldn't find the picture with the boots.)
