Pondering Production: Holy Knit

The Yarn Harlot once asked a friend of hers who is "very active in her church if she thought it was appropriate to knit while sitting in the pews. She replied, 'I believe that my Maker made me the way He thinks I should be, and I'm a knitter.' To cover her bases, she uses this time to knit for charity."

Mom's cousin Bruce, a minister from Massachusetts, rang in his vote saying that if you making prayer shawls it wouldn't seem so bad.

While I have yet to knit in church, but seriously consider it on a regular basis, (so far I design quilts I'm going to make someday for the MCC sale...my brain works better when my hands are busy...) I'm excited that our Pastor James's sermons particularly those through November on the Sermon on the Mount will be available via Podcast <here.> This makes me especially happy because once we're married we'll be moving to Colorado Springs where Luke will be completing his seven month internship. (And now, no one will know if I'm knitting or not!)

Which service is better... 1st or 2nd? :)

I guess a guy should be careful what he says - one never knows when or where he'll be quoted! :->

I think if I were inclined to want to knit during worship, I'd want to talk with pastor & others so they'd know what I was doing & why. Otherwise people might just *assume* you were being rude.

Safe travels, Jess

Oh, Jess!! We are going to miss you!!

And when you guys move back to Fresno (wink! wink!) I'll put in a good word with the pastor about you knittin' in the pews!

I am sure there is a good church in Colorado. It's almost the new Bible belt! My opinion on "knitting in the pew"- it's kind of conspicuous. Get a good knitting the size of your Bible, place it neatly in the middle, and contemplatively and prayerfully read it. But not during the sermon! Love and hugs! Janice

Signs that I'm getting old- that a whole is left out of a sentence. Please insert "book" after the word "quilting, in my previous comment. Janice

Okay, I am not really loosing it! In the middle of my correction, it started to hail, I ran out to cover up my lettuce, came back and wrote the word quilting instead of knitting. Is that a good excuse? Hope you got a laugh out of this! Janice

Kinda chuckling along here. ;) I believe you left a whole 'word' out of your first correction, too. Heheh....

Whew! Ya'll are a crack up! Thanks! Theyre both really good! Each are maybe tweaked just a bit toward the audiences...the first service crowd...well lets just say they dont sleep in 'til 10 like us college kids, or have lots of little younguns to get ready in the morning. ;)
