HP Cowl Pattern

I'm on a Harry Potter kick. I re-listened to ALL the books this summer while working on my projects. The last movie came out. I discovered a paper piecing quilt pattern that I'm dying to try! AND I couldn't help but pick up this Gryffindor colored yarn in my local yarn shop, Holly Berry Knits. This yarn is a DREAM to work with! When asked for a good, head warming project, Johanna who was working there that day suggested a hoodie cowl. BUT she didn't have a pattern to recommend. I didn't find one online that I LOVED so I made one up! If you're a knitter and try it out, let me know if you find any errors. I wrote it after the fact.

***My dearest cousin Tanya aka kniftyknittingmom created this chart for the arrow/lace/yarn over segment. Sorry I've taken so long to get it to you!
Also, if using the chart, the cowl looks more like this:
seed stitch (6 stitches), chart (11 stitches), 20 stitches of stockinnette, chart (11 stitches), seed stitch (6 stitches) ***

Looks great! Once tested you should consider a PDF file to sell on Etsy.

Quick question, what does "slip" mean in knitting? I would think it means just moving a stitch over to the other needle without making a stitch. But that is just a guess, and I am not sure. Then, please explain a slip stitch over.

I am delving into knitting a bit more. But currently am finishing a crochet bag project and need to get crackin' on my tea set Christmas present.

Thanks,

Slip is exactly what you guessed. You just transfer the stitch over. You still put the needle in front to back for the slip though so your stitch is going the right direction. Slip stitch over is when you use your left needle to pull the slipped stitch over the k2tog or k1.
The pattern IS on etsy as a free pattern. The picture just hasn't been made official!

So cute! I have some navy and grey DK in my stash that would be perfect for this. I think I'll try it with a provisional cast on so I don't have to pick up and then bind off the same stitches. Do you see any problems with this strategy? Also, how many yards are in your skeins?

Considering that I am not a knitter, those instructions SOOOOO look like a foreign language to me. : )

I love showing kids knitting patterns and explaining the secret code! Tan the yardage is on the revelry site sorry I didn't put it in both places I was goin between my phone and ravelry a LOT! I confess I'm not familiar with that cast on but I'd love to see it! As for orders...if I get solicited maybe but my days of stocking and storaging a shop are on major hold with all my back and forth! Thanks for the great reception!

What is your gauge for this? I have some fabulous baby alpaca yarn in red and gold (my school colors) that scream for me to make into a cowl and I wanted to know what kind of gauge I'm looking at.
